K, one of the cancer survivors I coach, is transitioning from a marketing career to living her dream career as a full-time artist. Last night we talked about what she might need to clear from her life, to create space for her expanded identity as an artist.
She knew the answer right away: the corporate suits she wore in her old career, which she no longer enjoys wearing. But she balked at letting them go: she said it felt frightening, like giving up her safety net.
I asked: what if, as she folded the suits for donation, she thanked them for supporting her until she arrived at this point of launching her new, more authentic career? What about blessing them for the good they’ll do those they’ll be donated to?
I heard her sigh of relief as she said, “That’s so much easier”…and she committed to doing it this week. (Way to go, K!)
We can terrorize ourselves…or we can make it easy.
Tell me below:
- What have you been putting off, because it seems scary?
- Can you think of a way to make it easy? If not, can I help you?
